The November/December issue of Northern Gardener is on news stands now, and it almost makes you excited for winter. (Good thing, because it looks like it’s here!) The issue has a beautiful cover, shot by Linda Staats, of a coneflower seed head covered in hoarfrost. In addition to the cover story about using plants with interesting seed heads and pods in the garden, the issue includes Michelle Mero Riedel’s story on 10 container arrangements to try next year. (My favorite is the one called Christmas in July.) It’s the kind of article you want to clip and save for next spring. Other features include a heartfelt story on gardeners over age 90, with joyful photos by Northfield-based photographer Tom Roster, and our annual gifts for gardeners guide. Check it out.
